More about the practice

Teaching practice

This practice is a teaching partner with Hull York Medical School, teaching years 3, 4 and 5. Placements are available for Foundation Doctors (F2). Patients are occasionally asked to come into the surgery to see a particular GP, who will have the medical students with them to discuss their past medical history. This is very good training for the next generation of clinical staff, and the doctors are always grateful to patients who will come in and speak to them.

Primary care network

Birkwood Medical Practice is part of the Panacea Primary Care Network.

GP net earnings

NHS England require that the net earnings of doctors engaged in the practice is publicised and the required disclosure is shown below. However, it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice and should not be used to for any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparisons with other practices.

The average earnings for GPs working in Birkwood Medical Centre in the last financial year ending in 2023 was £60,125 before taxation and National Insurance. This is for the 2 full time GP’s and 2 part-time GP’s who worked in the practice for more than 6 months.
